While many think dogs do not like to play dress up, we beg to differ.

Rigley was a local celebrity
who made the both newspaper and the late night news
on television in just one day
while performing as
“Darth Rigley”.

___________________________________________________

Picture
Rigley’s favorite annual event was Temple of Sakkara where he annually camped out on Dumont Lake with his family and our extended family - truly all are some the best families and folks you can imagine.

It only took catching the Hardy’s cat once to stop him of that nonsense.  He did, however, “save face” by milking lots of attention from everyone due to his absolute fright.

Rigley had a special gift about revealing when someone was experiencing fresh grief.  He would insist on being held and then would literally collapse over the person’s heart and start working on them.  They had to hold Rigley up as he eased their grief.

Teacher and Practitioner of "The Force"
Rigley perfected using “The Force”, and taught this technique to our other pets.

    SOUND HEALER and EDUCATOR
Rigley earned many degrees in his lifetime.  Two from Pet
Smart and an honorary doctorate from Healing Partnerships.

His preferred musical talent?  Purring.

Yes, Rigley purred.  Gataki and Phreddie taught him this particular sound healing technique.

Phreddie and Rigley were a healing duo on the tuning fork recipents who were open to allowing animal magic to shift their energies.

When  Phreddie was alive, Rigley always held the root chakra.  After Phreddie transitioned, he trained Buddy in this technique and moved his own focus to the heart and solar plexus chakras.

As you can see in the photo to the right, Buddy found this technique, when used on the left leg was a “deer in the headlights” experience.
       In memory of Rigley
                   1-14-2016

5,231 days.  14.3315 years.   It was not enough time to reap all the love this Pappy Jack (half Papillion, half Jack Russell Terrier) had to share... and share he did.

Around 1:30 A.M.  Rigley, a beloved member of our family and a valuable team member of our business, crossed over, then came back for a few minutes for one last Tom and Judy double hold, hug, purr and exchange of “I love yous”.  Rigley was such a GOOD dog.

Rigley had the sweetest spirit, softest coat, the most expressive eyes, the patience of Job, the highest jump, stamina like no other, and the biggest heart imaginable.  He was our surrogate, furry son who stepped into the shoes of Mojo and Tucker and ran those shoes around the block, down the alley, across the street and all over the neighborhood. While running and smiling, he was collecting friends and clients, furry, feathered and human, into the vacuum of the safety net that his abundant joy and love created.

Rigley was a rescue from SPCA.  The boyfriend of a co-worker told Tom “Your dog is at the SPCA”.  He was right.

While we were sitting in the center of the large room on the floor, filling out the application, Rigley entered the room, greeted every human and animal in the room and then  each pet  in cages in the adjoining room.  Rigley then ran over to Tom and grabbed the pencil he was using to fill out the paperwork and ran off with it.

Basically Rigley was commmunicating “forget the paperwork, just take me home.  We have other work to do and lots of playing ahead of us.  Time is of the essence.” …  That was on 9-18-2001 - yes, a 6 of Clubs day for those of you who know the significance of this.

Rigley was always a very polite dog, asking permission for things, except for that first visit at Canterbury at Tom’s folks’ place. Dad (RSCM) wasn't too pleased that we brought Rigley, but was okay with a dog in the house as long as he stayed on our laps.

Rigley promptly got up and walked right across the coffee table and hopped in Dad's lap which made him laugh like crazy and endeared Rigley forever to him.

Most dogs have toys.  Rigley chose his “Crockie”.  Evidently whoever owned Rigley before us gave him a Crockie toy.  Our first trip to Petsmart for a sweater, leash, Gentle Leader, collar, raincoat, food, brush and a toy revealed Rigley’s penchant for Crockies.  The rope tug toy he seemed to like, but when he spied the “Crockie” three shelves up, he ditched the rope, grabbed the Crockie off the shelf and proceeded to demolish it on the spot.

Of course we purchased both toys.  That rope toy is still like new but multitudes of Crockies have gone to “Crockie heaven”,  aka the recycling bin.

It took us a while to figure out that Crockie  was Rigley's texture fetish.  His favorite bedding was the same type of fabric as Crockie.

Rigley loved family gatherings as it gave him an opportunity to romp with his "Uncle" Rowdy, Buddy, Penelope, and the human relatives.  His favorite perks?  Getting to lick Grandma’s plates and to annoint her yard with his scent.

Rigley knew  rest was important.  But even while resting, Rigley was working to  provide extra paramagnetism (his breath) to the area along with warmth, slight pressure, and sound healing in the form of his purring.

   Excellent Neighbor and Mouser

Phreddie taught Rigley her excellent mousing skills.  Rigley was a fast learner as his natural terrier instincts were strong.

We had a neighbor with a  ferret who was an escape artist.  When the ferret escaped, he would stroll into our yard where he was at great risk.  As a result, we had the large excavations Rigley made to prove his prowess.  Fortunatey for our yard, plants and the errant ferret, the ferret was nimble and quick and soon his owners moved several blocks away.

While thieving mice, squirrels, rabbits and errant ferrets were always at risk at our home, our cockatiels and ducks were safe with Rigley.  It was not unusual for one of our cockatiels – usually Gorgeous  - to sit on Rigley’s head and preen his ears.

Rigley and Bailey shared a special bond only fence buddies can create.  They had a several times daily “pissing contest”, complete with joyous hellos to each other, just to see who could water the other’s yard the most.      They were the best security agents ever invented and their posse has increased by the louder and longer sustaining barkers of Buddy and Penelope.

Sweet dreams Rigley.
Rest in Peace.
You will never be forgotten.

Hiding and Mountain Goat Abilities

We found out, early on, that Rigley liked to hide when he wanted an undisturbed nap.

Rigley had inborn mountain goat tendencies and could climb chain link fences lickety split.  Sometimes he would combine these two talents, especially if warm and clean laundry right out of the dryer was available.

Challenger of Ps

Rigley challenged pitbulls and postmen, which were both  hard on Mom’s body and his.  Rigley just purred Mom (Judy) back into proper resonance after both had copious amounts of chiropractic care and had removed their also copious amounts of pepper spray.

Gwendra had taught Rigley the essentials of mail destruction early on, which gave them both joy over the years.  The technique also helped to recycle junk mail into much smaller pieces, thereby speeding decomposition.

Getting mail service restored was yet another trial and tribulation – requiring about 6 weeks and a new, custom-built cedar door.

Rigley did not know he was small and lived large as a result of his belief, often letting his mouth overload his ass and involving Mom in the rescue operation.

I think he was trying to teach me something…

He definitely taught us all, a LOT!  Especially about love, timing and being a master at seizing the moment, loyalty, forgiveness, and joy.

Gardening

Rigley and Buddy are excellent gardeners who believe “In the garden is where you relax, connect, and grow relationships"  and great, heirloom, organic food.

Rigley was expert at helping to dig holes, compost turning, fertilization and urine therapy of the soil was his gift.

The dogs were always perplexed and frustrated about the poop patrols.  They could not comprehend why we were removing fresh, organic dog droppings.  We explained it was a government regulation.  They argued that some laws need to be changed.  We agreed.  Poop patrol, however, was non-negotiable.

Rigley was relieved to see Penelope  arrive to help in the garden as there is always soooo much to be done.
Rigley exited this dimension on a King of Diamonds day.  He was the King and held his position of power, as ruler of our hearts, every second he was physically with us.  Rest in Peace Rigley.  Thank you for sharing your life with us.
