12/18/2013: CthePower in YOU - Is all about CommuniTea - in Memory of Thia McKann, co-founder of The Path of Tea in Houston, Texas.

12/18 is Thia's birthday. The above photo is taken at  The Path of Tea located at 2340 W Alabama St, Houston, Texas 77098.

Thia McKann, creator and owner of The Path of Tea, as well as a woman of vision, compassion, creativity, generosity, support of so many others, loyalty and great, abiding love - at age 58, passed away on Christmas Day, 2012.

Although her radiant presence will be profoundly missed, her gift for establishing communiTEA will live on through the nurturing spirit of The Path of Tea.

In honor of Thia:

This past June, while on a mission in Houston, I was urged by Lowell Quintan Bass, aka Quin, to go to a special organic tea shop in the Greenway Plaza area and be certain while there to connect with the owners, Chris and Thia McKann.
On my first visit I was able to connect with Chris who arranged a meeting for me with Thia the next day. That first meeting with Thia was memorable, informative and long. Once her work duties were out of the way, the meeting ran from afternoon until early evening over several pots of tea.
Thia and I were both in the same book and on the same page about so many things in life:   organics and being aware of the need for alternative health as a way of life. Both of us were working on ways to ease those travelling the allopathic route with alternative choices to enhance their life experience. Thia was more of a veteran on working towards fulfilling the space in between the diverse worlds of health choices and shared her knowledge freely with me that day and on subsequent visits. I knew I had met a friend, a comrade, and a woman who was a special type of healer – one who healed both people and communities. We were instant cohorts who appreciated each other and were looking forward to working together on some mini projects after the book she and Chris were compiling was completed.
The tea shop became a form of respite care for me and a choice of destination over the next two months. Upon my return to Houston this November, I made several trips back to The Path of Tea but kept missing Thia and Chris.
Their book was released shortly before Christmas. I went by The Path of Tea for an event right before Christmas and found it closed . I left after reading the post on the front door, knowing that I needed to reconnect with Thia soon. Evidently Thia’s 58 year old heart, which was full of so much wisdom and pure grace, went into an aberrant rhythm and she changed dimensions on Christmas.
